Message from the President
On behalf of the Gifted, Industrious, Accomplished, Capable members of the Greenwood-Itta Bena Alumnae Chapter (GIAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, thank you for visiting our website. This site was created as an effort to continue our service to the Mississippi Delta and specifically our service area: Carroll County, Grenada County, Leflore County, and Sunflower County. We invite you to browse our website to learn more about GIAC sponsored activities. We also encourage you to visit us on Facebook and Instagram.

Since the chartering of our chapter on December 14, 1963, GIAC has been committed to the ideals of our twenty-two founders. These ladies envisioned an organization dedicated to sisterhood, scholarship, service, and social action. We, the members of GIAC, strive to accomplish this goal through the programs offered by our chapter. Each year, we seek to engage the youth of our communities through Delta Academy, Delta Gems, and Embodi. Our goal is to educate our youth on the opportunities that lie ahead of them and to encourage them to seek out those opportunities. We also seek to educate the citizens of each of our communities through public service activities that focus on Delta’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust:

-
Economic Development
-
Educational Development
-
International Awareness & Involvement
-
Political Awareness & Involvement
-
Physical and Mental Health

For those of you who have already joined us through various partnerships, “Thank you for your continued support.” For those of you who have benefited in any way from our efforts, we thank you for allowing us to serve you.
If you are a duly-initiated member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and are looking for a chapter to call home, please consider joining GIAC. I invite you to join us at a chapter meeting/chapter event. More information can be found about attending a chapter meeting under the “Visiting Sorors” section of this site.
