About
Physical & Mental Health
As an organization of predominantly African American women, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is uniquely positioned to impact not only the well-being of its membership, but also the families and communities we serve. The DeltaCare initiative is an internal wellness initiative under the programmatic thrust of Physical and Mental Health. It was created to promote self-care through physical wellness, emotional wellness, and awareness/advocacy. The Physical and Mental Health Committee of the Greenwood-Itta Bena Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is working to help reduce health disparities that plague the African American communities by providing educational awareness and service to the undeserved and weak. The committee is committed to the goal of “Good Health Wins,” advocating for immunizations/vaccinations to promote physical, emotional, and psychological wellness. It is our desire to reduce the spread of communicable diseases (Covid, Influenza, Measles, and etc.) in Blacks through partnership with community stakeholders to promote better health and to improve quality of life of those in our service areas.
